Greensburg Pirate Bands

The Greensburg Pirate bands are comprised of students grades 6-12 in Greensburg Community Schools. These young musicians participate in Concert band, Jazz Band, Indoor Percussion, Marching Band and Pep Band.

Lisa Cary

Director of Bands

Ms. Cary is the Director of Bands at Greensburg Community High and Greensburg
Junior High School. She is an alum of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music where she
earned degrees in Instrumental Music Education and French horn performance with a minor in
Wind Conducting. Ms. Cary performed as a part of the Indiana University Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and, most importantly, the Marching Hundred! She is active in performing in groups around the state of Indiana such as the Indianapolis Symphonic Band and the Indiana Wind Symphony.

She greatly enjoys teaching her students in grades 6-12 in
Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, AP Music Theory, and Jazz Band. Ms. Cary is passionate about the importance of
the marching arts and has worked with many bands in the state of Indiana and currently serves as as a brass and visual instructor for the Decatur County Greensburg Marching Band. Ms. Cary also teaches privately after school to provide added challenge and support to students. When she is isn’t working with her wonderful students, Ms. Cary loves to perform with community bands and spend time with her pet turtle, Jasper.

Jeffrey Mayfield

Assistant Band Director

Mr. Mayfield is the Assistant Band Director at Greensburg Community High and Greensburg Junior High School. He is an alum of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music where he earned his degree in Instrumental Music Education with a percussion focus. Mr. Mayfield performed as a part of the Concert Band, IU Percussion Ensemble, and the IU Drumline for the Marching Hundred! He loves teaching his students in grades 6-12 in concert band, jazz ensemble, guitar, percussion class, and music appreciation. He also enjoys furthering his knowledge of audio engineering and visual editing for his own interests. Outside of the school day, Mr. Mayfield enjoys playing golf and tennis, watching basketball, and spending time with his wife and newborn son.
